Inspiring NM families who have escaped domestic violence to embrace wholeness, by providing for their transitional needs.
JudyGails Place is a non-profit organization that supports New Mexico families who have escaped from a violent partner. JudyGails Place networks with community members to provide resources that ensure families have access to thriving futures that reach far beyond surviving.
Why transitional services?
The main goal of JudyGails Place is to help survivors of intimate partner violence to obtain a healthy self-sufficient future.
JudyGails is a network of services and people. This means that we work with many other non-profits, business owners and individuals within the community to provide for the needs of the women we work with. This way we can provide a much broader range of services to ensure these families have access to the things they need so they don't become homeless or return to their abusers. This approach also ensures that we don't duplicate services already provided by other organizations in the communities we work with.
One of the largest things JudyGails does is rebuild self-esteem in survivors by being a type of family during a time when they need one the most. Very often JudyGails encourages women to do things on their own like fill out an application, apply for a job, pay a portion of the fees or call their landlord so they experience successes as often as possible.
We work to help them imagine a future they couldn't reach when they were simply struggling to survive. JudyGails encourages each member of the family to talk and think about what they feel success is and break down the steps that they need to take to help get them get there. Most of the families we work with have simply forgotten how much value they have or they are overwhelmed with decisions that they need someone to help them choose what next step they want to take. JudyGails sees it as our ultimate goal to help survivors remember that they have a bright independent future that is going to take them far beyond surviving.
