Who is JudyGail?
JudyGails Place is named after JudyGail Quinlian. JudyGail lived in Colorado Springs for a number of years. Judy was married to an alcoholic man who verbally and emotionally abused her for many years. She divorced and a number of years later married Larry Quinlian, the man she often referred to as "the love of her life". Larry and Judy Quinlian moved to Los Alamos, NM together.
Judy was a trained administrator for a healing program called "Restoring the Foundations". JudyGail spent countless hours working with individuals who were wounded by life's trials. Judy held a deep compassion for individuals who experienced abuse; she never saw them as broken people. She saw individuals who were wrestling with the consequences of their life choices as temporarily derailed. She always hoped for the best outcome, even in the midst of what at times looked like the worst situations.
JudyGail was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2010. Even after her diagnosis, she continued to minister to those she encountered. Days before she passed away, Judy traveled to Arizona to work with a group of Gypsies. She had sores on her legs that caused her so much pain that she literally couldn't walk, so she laid on the floor while ministering. I once overheard someone ask her why she did that to herself, to which she replied with tears in her eyes; "they are worth it".
JudyGail was a living example of what it means to compassionately love others. Sadly, JudyGail lost her battle with cancer on March 11, 2011.
When naming our organization, we named it "JudyGails Place" in memory of her example of humble respect for the hurting among us. In every interaction we have with clients, donors, or foundation members we want those we work with to know that they are "worth it".
